America stalls out at $35 million

Britain triples tsunami aid pledge to 96 million dollars

The United Kingdom and Sweden both have significantly smaller populations than the United States. Why on earth can this administration not pledge more in outright aid to help people cope with this disaster?

In 4 days Amazon.com has raised over $4 million dollars. In aid, not a credit line. So in comparison to the U.S government, the American people have given 40% of actual donations.
In case you don't know, of the $35 million the U.S. has pledged, only $10 million is in outright aid, the remaining $25 million is in a line of credit.
