because, god forbid our gasoline should be safer for the environment!

Bush Eases Environmental Rules on Gasoline

Yeah. It's the refining that's skyrocketing the price of gas. Sure. Not the obscene pay packages of the presidents of the companies. Not the fact that we went to war to get oil and that didn't really work out so well for us. It's the environmental regulations.
Jeebus Christmas our president is an idiot.

People think we went to war to get oil. Not true. We went to war to make an oil shortage so that Bushco could make huge profits and pay back his Texas buddies. Now he'll dump the environmantal laws to make even more money. You actually think the oil companys are going to build more refineries? I'll bet not and why should they. If capacity is squeezed, then prices go up and they make even more with bigger profits.
I'd like to suggest that we make May 1 a national day of protest. Don't buy anything and don't drive unless you absolutely must. This would coincide with the immigration protest. This would hit em right in the pocketbook the only thing they seem to understand.

I like the three day protest idea and you are right lowering environmental laws would have little impact on the prices. Another item of note is that just after Katrina the oil cos. were desperately looking for ways to increase the price of gas. What a bunch of vampires.
Lastly, if the prices continue to rise we won't have to worry about protests we won't be able to afford any side trips. I'm know this will really hurt lower income people who must drive in their jobs.
