My guess is becuase our government has done absolutely nothing to show us that they are in anyway ready for anysort of emergency. Whether it's a terrorist attack or a disaster, we are not at all prepared.

I believe I said it once before. Just after 911 I and my coworkers were waiting for the training to deal with such disasters. Some time last October the money for such training was approved. In the spring of this year the first course in a series of courses is being offered. FIVE YEARS LATER! If it takes much longer to develop the full program I'll be nearing retirement, seriously. My advice to all. Develop your own plan and make it plans A, B, C, and D.
I remember you telling me about this. It's really amazing how little these guys actually seem to care for anything except their own bottom line. It's really interesting that you mention forming your own disaster plan. My sister in law is a lot more concerned about these things since Zephyr's been around. Disaster kits of all sorts are popping up. Along with plans on where to meet, that sort of thing.
