This makes me sad.

India's silk sari-weavers face bleak, hungry future

I've got a lot of saris. Never get a chance to wear them. But some are real works of art. Hand weavers do amazingly beautiful work.

Just wondering if the weavers couldn't adapt to changing times. Example: I have in my dining room a silk table cloth that I use as a wall hanging because it's too ornate to use as a table cloth. It was hand made from China many years ago and it doesn't compare to the finer work of the sari-weavers. Seems there should be new outlets for these craftsmen or the art will be lost forever.

I don't know Demeur. I really hope that they can find a way to evolve with the times.
