The Pharyngula Mutating Genre Meme

Shakespeare's Sister has tagged me.

There are a set of questions below that are all of the form, "The best [subgenre] [medium] in [genre] is…". Copy the questions, and before answering them, you may modify them in a limited way, carrying out no more than two of these operations:

— You can leave them exactly as is.

— You can delete any one question.

— You can mutate either the genre, medium, or subgenre of any one question. For instance, you could change "The best time travel novel in SF/Fantasy is…" to "The best time travel novel in Westerns is…", or "The best time travel movie in SF/Fantasy is…", or "The best romance novel in SF/Fantasy is…".

— You can add a completely new question of your choice to the end of the list, as long as it is still in the form "The best [subgenre] [medium] in [genre] is…".

You must have at least one question in your set, or you've gone extinct, and you must be able to answer it yourself, or you're not viable.

Then answer your possibly mutant set of questions. Please do include a link back to the blog you got them from, to simplify tracing the ancestry, and include these instructions.

Finally, pass it along to any number of your fellow bloggers. Remember, though, your success as a Darwinian replicator is going to be measured by the propagation of your variants, which is going to be a function of both the interest your well-honed questions generate and the number of successful attempts at reproducing them.

Ok.

This meme is scaring me.

I'm on way too much Sudafed to understand.

Does not compute.

Let me read it a few more times. I'll get it eventually!

I'm with blue gal

I've been feeling pretty dense lately but I will read a few more times.

I promised a while back that if I was tagged for a meme that I would not tag anyone else. Thus my success as a darwinian replicator (?) will be very low.

Does this mean with this meme that you are my parent and now My great-great-great-grandparent is Metamagician and the Hellfire Clubs..?

BG and Poli, I have great faith in your abilities. It took me a couple rereadings too.
And Poli, yup, it does mean I'm your parent. you don't have to take the tree back all the way, like I did, though.

I hadn't read Blue & Polishifter's comments yet and was thinking the same thing. HA!:)

I'll be reading & re-reading I'm sure.

Looks like an Amway line of sponsorship...*L*!

Thanks for thinking of me Shayera. I think. :)

Hey Shayera

But I think the parental lineage is what makes it interesting.

My problem with memes is that they never seem to end and no one summarizes the results.

It would be nice if memes had a starting and ending date and then if the person who started to could present the results.

I would be interesting to see how much the questions morphed over time...

But that would also be a lot of work to put together.

It's nice to see so many familiar faces though (hi Chuck!)

Poli,
I'm thinking this is the "telephone game" version of a meme. Seriously. Everyone can mutate it just a bit.
PZ might be keeping track of it. Since it's his meme.
Hi Chuck!

I'd like to play, but I'm a bit short on time as usual. Maybe this weekend when I've had time to think about it. But thanks for the invite.

Hee hee, Poli. ;-)
Demeur, do it when ever you like. I promise it's not a quiz.
I'm really enjoying seeing what everyone's answers are. It's so interesting!

I got tagged for that. But I'm terribly confused by the rulz.

Rox, it's not an easy one, that's for sure.
In fact, I'm not even sure I played correctly.

Dear Mother Shayera,

I just did a post on this mind bloggling (bloggling!! That was a typo -- a very funny typo!) meme!

lol.

I utterly confoosed, but I think I did it (http://faboomama.blogspot.com/2007/10/ive-been-tagged.html). I guess I should have read the comments here.
