So very close

Democrats currently hold 56 seats in the Senate. And 2 Independent Senators that caucus with the Democrats. With 2 races still open.
The recount has officially started in Minnesota. And I really really want to see Al Franken in the Senate. So very many levels of awesome. Al Franken Recount Fund Don't you want to see Bill O'Reilly have an apoplexy live on tv? His head might quite literally explode. That's got to be worth at least 20 bucks!
And Jim Martin will be going into a runoff against the truly atrocious Saxby Chambliss on December 2nd. Jim Martin's Act Blue page. Chambliss must lose.
And then, can you imagine, Democrats will have hit the 60 vote threshold. Work might actually get done in the Senate!

Franken is behind by 174 votes as of 10 pm with 18% recounted he was at 215. There's a couple of hundred contested votes by both sides. I hope this doesn't go to a hand recount.

Hard to say about the Martin / Chambliss race but I'm sure the longer it takes the more people will be laid off and hopefully be pissed at Chambliss for siding with Bush. But you know Ga. has been a red state for quite a while.

Update: Franken behind by 136 votes as of 11:30 pm

Oh man I hope this doesn't turn out like the Wa state vote when Gregoire won by 132 votes after two recounts.
