Assembly fails to approve Maldonado for lieutenant governor
You know, I'm not a Maldonado fan. He's a Republican. Arnie wants him. So two things guaranteed to make me dislike him.
The California Senate is apparently smarter than the Assembly. Maldonado's district is Democratic. If Maldonado is approved as Lieutenant Governor, that opens up his Senate seat. Which would go to a Democrat! Getting the State closer to the magic 3/4 that needs anything to be done.
If only the Assembly would pull it's head out and think of this.

The problem you have in California is much the same as several other states but worse since taxes were kept artificially low due to the republicans. In Wa. state we're facing the same thing although not as bad. We're only $2 billion in the hole.
Makes me wonder if your Dems do get a majority in Assembly what will they do to solve the mess? I think we still have that sign that says "will the last person leaving Seattle please turn out the lights!" All you'd need to do is change Seattle to California.:-)
