I just want to say, Ms Bereznack, you sound like an unkind person. So he wasn't your flavor of date. Was he mean, rude, unkind, abusive, or drunken during your date? Doesn't sound like. Sounds like he was a nice man with a hobby you want to mock. Which makes you mean.

Embattled Fullerton police chief goes on medical leave

Key phrase, for me:

City spokeswoman Sylvia Palmer Mudrick said the chief cannot be fired while on medical leave.

I don't know if you've read anything about this story. A young schizophrenic homeless man was beaten to death by some Fullerton police officers. He was well known in the area and people say he was harmless. The picture taken of him just before he died is so sad. You can't recognize him.
And the official response has been horrendous. The Chief of Police should be fired. "Medical leave" is a cop out. He's running away from his responsibility to the citizens.
