Dear "Democratic" Senators

Why do you bother? Seriously. Please tell me why you even pretend anymore that you give a damn about the actual American citizen. You're so damn scared of losing the support of your corporate masters that you don't care that you're losing the support of your voters.
Are you so cocooned up on Capitol Hill that you can ignore the fact that people are literally dying every single day because they can't afford basic health care?
I'm ashamed of you.
But then, you don't really care what I think do you? You just want me to keep sending you money for your re-election. That won't be happening.
Get it from your corporate masters. After all, they have better protection and more rights than I do as a human being.
Love and kisses,
Shayera

What is wrong with Trent Franks?

Another moment of whatthefuckery from AZ Congressman Trent Franks.
At "Take Back America" (um... from what?, Franks called President Obama an "enemy of humanity."
The term "hyperbole much" doesn't even begin to come close. "Delusional liar" actually comes a lot closer.

What is happening?

AP source: Census worker hanged with 'fed' on body

As a friend of mine would say: OMG WTFBBQ?
What is happening here?
Why do I suddenly feel like I'm back in the Civil Rights era?

Itsn't that undermining the President (and the government) on foreign soil?

Inhofe Leading "Truth Squad" To Climate Change Conference, Will Say That U.S. Senate Won't Pass A Bill

I've run out of things to say. It feels like I'm constantly in a loop of "but they're telling you literally the opposite thing to reality." I feel like I've taken crazy pills. Or maybe it's the Republicans that have. Because tell me again, how can Inhofe do this? It's not as if he's a member of a shadow government. Gee, no wonder ever needs to wonder why America's reputation in the world is falling. Fools like Grassley and Inhofe bloviate and posture and lie. And the country suffers as a result.

Stupidest campaign website.

Carly for California

To save you having to click, here's a video describing the stupidity:

Instead, you can stop by Barbara Boxer for US Senate and maybe give a donation or volunteer some time.

A different sort of meta

Okay people seriously, can we all just stop getting distracted by "ooh shiny"?
And I don't just mean in the blogospere and the media.
Fuck, I've given up on the media not getting distracted by "ooh shiny." Hell, it would be like asking them to put on their big girl/boy pants and do some actual work. I can say it until I'm blue in the face but it's never going to happen.
And I guess I'm getting to that same point with politicians as well. Joe Wilson and ACORN are distractions. Stop being played for fools. Once again, apparently too much to ask.
And dammit. Now I have to deal with "ooh shiny" here at work as well! Listen, we don't know what's going to happen. It is well and truly out of our hands. Just do what you're supposed to. For once. Stop making up scenarios. Just stop.
Remember the end goals.
Health care reform
Keeping your job.
These are far more important than the distractions you keep getting involved in.

Wait.

Wait, we're told.
Wait.
"We've" only just got power.
Wait.
You have to be patient, change will come.
Wait.
We need 60 Senators.
Wait.
80% of the PUBLIC supports a PUBLIC option.
Wait.

So. Let's see. What's waiting gotten us?
The Lily Ledbetter Act. Signed into law on January 29th.
Sonya Sotomayor, Supreme Court Justice. Who was SLANDERED by Republicans on her way to confirmation, by the way.

But my gay and lesbian friends? Well, they're told to wait. DADT and DOMA continue under this Administration.
Health care reform? Wait, we're told. It's coming.
But Republicans are not negotiating in earnest. Nor are they going to vote for the final bill. They've told us this in no uncertain terms.

After 2006, when Democrats had majorities in both Houses, the constant refrain was "keep the powder dry." Well, the powder is massive. And completely dry. 52 million people voted for a new way.
But so far, we've gotten more of the same. Oh, I don't think Obama is a clone of Bush. And I do believe he has the actual good of the people in mind.
But time and again he shows weakness by insisting on bipartisanship.
And let's be clear, Republicans are not interested in working for the common good. They're very clear that what they're interested in is impeding any sort of change.
It's time to shut them down and shut them out.
We can not afford to wait any more.

One thing I am really tired of.

Democratic back down.
Seriously. Dick Cheney told a Senator on the SENATE FLOOR to go fuck himself. Then Cheney shot a man in the face. Nothing happened. Cheney never apologized for either.
But God forbid any damn person says anything about a Democrat. First thing you know, the Democrat is apologizing. And then being fired or resigns.

I am so damn tired of losing to bullies. Glenn Beck is clearly not stable. He creates fantasies that are so far removed from any sort of reality that it's beyond comprehension that anyone believes him. And yet he garners an audience.
Why do fantasy ramblings get more respect than straight talk?
By the way, if you don't know why I'm so up in arms right this moment, it's because Van Jones resigned. I don't support Jones' signing of a "Truther" petition. But I sure as hell do support all the good he's done for San Francisco and all the great Green work he's done for the country.
Glenn Beck encourages his followers to bring guns to Presidential speeches. Van Jones encourages people to live more greenly.
So obviously Jones had to go, right? God forbid his good works be allowed to continue!

Oh, I can't tell you how many times I've been called racist lately. For supporting Jones. That's beyond damn rich.
Irony truly is dead.

The stupid, it burns

You know, when I was in school, it was Carter, Reagan and Bush.
And the teachers would drag out the televisions for many a Presidential rambling.
Especially when Reagan was in office. Ah those meandering speeches of his.
But apparently this President speaking to schoolchildren is the most horrible thing ever.

George Bush sat in a class room, struck dumb, after being told a SECOND plane had flown into the World Trade Center. He went into a class full of children, knowing that one plane had already been flown into the twin towers. George Bush went ahead with a photo opportunity with school children after he was told the country was under attack.

It's not quite the same comparison, I agree. I hope that we don't ever have to find out how Barack Obama would react in a similar tragedy. (I would bet every single thing I own that he wouldn't react the same way as Bush did.)
But here's the thing, I bet you the children in that class had both Republican and Democratic parents. I bet no Democratic parent said, "well, I'm not letting my child be in class with Bush there." That would be assholey. And immature. And Disrespectful.
The people up in arms because THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES has the NERVE, the GALL to address school children need to 1. get over it, 2. stop being racist ('cause "scary black man" is telling their kids to study and stay in school) and 3. grow the fuck up.
