Prop. 8 sponsors seek to nullify 18K gay marriages
You know, all through the campaign, the Prop H8 supporters insisted that they wouldn't try to invalidate the marriages of gay couples in the State. Yeah, they just wanted to make sure that no other couples would be allowed to get married.
But yesterday they filed a brief to invalidate the marriages of 18,000 couples. Can you imagine the gall of these "people"? How disgusting can they be? It's not enough that they deny loving couples a basic right, now they're going after people who went against their wishes.
You know, before the election, my friends had made the "home invasion" commercial. It's still on my page. I heard a lot of, "oh come on, that's an exaggeration." And some "we have to take a polite, respectful stance in this fight." Well, fuck both of those lines. You can not be polite and respectful when you're facing people who are actively trying to deny others rights. Separate but equal is not equal. Proposition 8 supporters are trying to come into the homes of loving, married couples and tell them they are not married. That they are somehow less.
This cannot be allowed.
State Attorney General Jerry Brown has filed a brief asking the California Supreme Court to invalidate Proposition 8. And I say good for him.
Proposition 8 supporters are liars and hypocrites. They deserve nothing but contempt and disgust from the rest of us. I will not stand by and allow my GLBT friends to be made into second class citizens.

When I heard this story yesterday, my jaw literally dropped.
I think--I hope--that this is the tipping point, where people start to see through the obfuscation and recognize that the Prop 8 supporters are hatemongers and extremists.
Yup. That's really the only way to describe them. And now their hatred is right out in the open, for everyone to see.
Did I mention that Shepherd of the Hills was a big Prop 8 supporter? And I always thought the big church across the street from them was creepier. Turns out, they're the more rational ones.

Nothing but applause from me. Well said!
Some levity.
